Participate in the CRLMB as a member or student member
The CRLMB invites Québec scientists, whose research focuses on the study of human language, to apply for membership. To apply, please forward a letter of intent, along with your CV to a membership committee representative. Your letter of intent must stipulate your desired membership level.

Levels of membership are established by our funding agencies and refer to the percentage of primary research which is covered by a research centre's mandate.
Membership levels are defined as follows:
Principal - 50% and over
Associate - 33% - 49%
Collaborative - less than 33%
Please bear in mind that total membership in all research centres funded by FQRNT/FQRSC/FRSQ cannot exceed 100%, and adjust your application accordingly.
Membership privileges and responsibilities
The Centre is run as a cooperative; members have input to financial, organizational and research decisions, and they are expected to participate actively, donating up to 20 hours of time per year to the running of the Centre, over and above the timely submission of our reporting requirements.
Membership terms run for three years, renewable. Renewal is subject to the continuing relevance of each member's research to the Centre's mandate, and to fulfillment of the membership requirements, which include:
- developing collaborative research alliances in order to apply for Centre funding
- participating in Centre activites such as our CRLMB speaker series, Lectures on Language series, and student research days
- volunteering for service on one of the following Centre committees: Funds, Outreach, Student Affairs and Membership
- submitting annual report and progress report information as required
- acting as a liaison and mentor for student members of the Centre
Student Members
Any student whose advisor is a Centre member is a defacto member of the Centre as well, and is encouraged to register. Registered students are eligible to apply for travel funding or to take part in any of several Centre-sponsored activities throughout the year.
